Meet the 18‑year‑old walking the stage at GW Law’s graduation
While most 18‑year‑olds are just beginning college, Shahab Gharib is preparing to walk the stage at GW Law’s commencement. Gharib graduated from Pace University summa cum laude at 14 with a degree in history, having compressed 7th grade through high school into just one and a half years during the COVID‑19 pandemic. He enrolled at GW Law at 15 and completed his J.D. by 18 — drawn by the faculty’s genuine enthusiasm for having a young mind in the classroom. Active in the Military Law Society, the Iranian American Bar Association, and the Moot Court executive board, he is now studying for the D.C. bar exam and has accepted a consulting position in Germany. “I can spend three years doing whatever I want and I’ll only be 21,” he said.
